I was surprised Sunday night by a call from one of my birth clients that her baby girl would be making her entrance sooner than expected.   Her c-section wasn't scheduled until mid February but sweet little Iris decided that she just couldn't wait any longer to meet her family :)  I arrived at the hospital at just about 6pm.  We waited a few hours and then it was go time!  It wasn't clear until just a hour or so before if I would be allowed in with them for the delivery.  It really depends on the doctors and other medical staff as to whether they will let a second person into the OR.  Thankfully they allowed it!!  This was only the 2nd c-section I have photographed and I can't even tell you how amazing an experience it is.  Miss Iris announced her arrival at 9:31 PM with a loud strong cry, which I know mom & dad were relieved to hear.  Being a little early they had some extra doctors on hand but she was healthy and perfect!  She weighed in at 6lbs 2oz and 19 inches.

 I know I say this every time but I really am so lucky to be able to be a part of something like this.  To witness a baby take her very first breath, her dad hold her for the first time and mom finally face to face with the little person that grew in her belly.  Congratulation to the S family!!
