500 Fan Giveaway Winner! ~ Maine Photographer

January 01, 2014  •  Leave a Comment
Just before Christmas my Facebook page hit 500 fans (yay!!), so I wanted to do some sort of giveaway to celebrate that and once again say thank you to those who follow and support me.  I decided instead of the usual share it to win game I wanted to do something else, something a little more special. So I asked my Facebook followers to send me a quick note nominating someone in their lives for this giveaway.  Since this is the time of year of giving and celebrating family and friends I want to give a free family session to a deserving person or family.  Over the course of about a week I received 8 amazing nominations from people who told me 8 stories of very deserving people.  It was not a easy task to narrow it down to just one winner, but after reading each story probably close to 10 times I kept going back to this one in particular.  With permission from the family I want to share their story with all of you!

Hi Carly,

I wanted to nominate my classmate and friend Elizabeth D and her family for a free photo shoot.

Liz discovered at 20 weeks pregnant at her anatomy ultrasound that her son Thomas had a severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia and was only given a chance of 25% to making it to birth.  Through bed rest and lots of prayers, Liz was able to make it to term with Thomas and he was delivered via C-section in Boston at Massachusetts General on August 21st.

Since then, Thomas has undergone countless surgeries and procedures to correct this issue and continues to fight for his life.  He was briefly transferred to Maine Med when things had improved, but had to be transported back down to Massachusetts again when complications arose.  He is quite a fighter, having endured so much even before he was born.  His mother, if possible, is even more amazing and just has this strength of spirit that is incredible. She has been an incredible advocate and has remained positive throughout this ordeal, even when circumstances sometimes looked really dire.  His parents split their time between Boston and Brunswick, which has really taken a toll on their family and their 5 year old Jack who recently started kindergarten.

When Thomas is finally well enough to go home (and we pray that this will happen soon!!), I would love for this incredible family to have a photo shoot.  They are so deserving of some beautiful pictures and memories.

Sincerely,

Tina

I want to congratulate Elizabeth D and her family for winning the 500 fan deserving family giveaway! I can't wait to meet your family, especially your little fighter baby Thomas.  Also thank you to Tina for sending me their story and to the other 7 people who shared stories with me as well.

~Carly
